London Borough of Croydon (24 008 523)
Statement Upheld Pollution 03-Feb-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about alleged failings by the Council to carry out regular street sweeping where the complainant lives, as well as a failure to respond to incidents of fly tipping. Though there was fault by the Council which caused the complainant an injustice in some areas, it is unlikely that further investigation of the issues complained about would lead to a different outcome. This is because the Council has acknowledged its fault and offered an appropriate remedy which addresses the injustice suffered.

Birmingham City Council (24 008 700)
Statement Upheld School transport 03-Feb-2025
Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s decision to award his child, Y, a bus pass instead of a council-organised taxi service when he applied for home to school transport support for Y. There was fault with how the Council considered the school transport support application and appeal in Y’s case. This caused injustice to Mr X. To remedy the injustice caused, the Council will apologise and make a symbolic payment to Mr X. It will also carry out a fresh home to school transport appeal.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Assessment and care plan 03-Feb-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about adult social care arrangements. The court decided the dispute over what was best, and the Ombudsman cannot question or criticise the court’s decision. It is unlikely we would find fault in the Council’s actions and there is no worthwhile outcome from an Ombudsman investigation.
