  • London Borough of Ealing (22 017 276)

Statement Upheld Parking and other penalties 12-Apr-2023

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of her representations against a penalty charge notice. This is because the Council has agreed to accept payment at the discounted rate of £65 and this provides a suitable remedy for Miss X's claimed injustice.

  • London Borough of Ealing (22 011 422)

    Statement Upheld Allocations 23-May-2023

Summary: Ms B complained about the way the Council considered her request for a priority move from her current council property. She considered the Council did not properly consider her circumstances and the offer made did not improve her chance of being rehoused to a suitable property. She had to continue to live where she had been subject to anti-social behaviour and in a property that was too small for her needs. There was fault by the Council. To remedy the injustice caused to Ms B the Council will apologise, make a payment to her and ensure she has the higher priority for bidding for new properties.

  • London Borough of Ealing (22 008 400)

    Statement Upheld Allocations 31-May-2023

Summary: Miss B says the Council left her in bed-and-breakfast accommodation beyond six weeks, failed to act when a housing association delayed withdrawing a property it had offered her, misled her about the status of the property and placed her in the wrong band on the Council’s housing register. The Council delayed identifying alternative temporary accommodation for Miss B, failed to liaise with the housing association and delayed making a decision on the homeless application and in awarding her priority on the Council’s housing register. An apology, payment to Miss B, reminder to officers and commitment to keep notes of meetings is satisfactory remedy.

  • London Borough of Ealing (22 002 098)

    Report Upheld Homelessness 01-Jun-2023

Summary: SummaryMr and Mrs X complained that the Council delayed in moving them and their children from unsuitable temporary accommodation. As a result, they lived in unsuitable accommodation for longer than necessary which Mr and Mrs X consider was detrimental to their health.

  • London Borough of Ealing (23 002 006)

Statement Upheld Parking and other penalties 04-Jun-2023

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint that the Council has wrongly enforced a restriction on the use of a road by motor vehicles. This is because the Council has provided a suitable remedy for the issue and it is unlikely we could achieve anything more. Mr X’s allegations of criminal behaviour and civil liability for damages caused by the Council’s actions are more appropriate for consideration by the police and the courts.

  • London Borough of Ealing (23 001 525)

    Statement Upheld Council tax 06-Jun-2023

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council incorrectly taking enforcement action to recover council tax. That is because we are satisfied with the action the Council has taken to resolve the fault and remedy the injustice caused.

  • London Borough of Ealing (23 001 091)

    Statement Upheld Other 11-Jun-2023

Summary: We have upheld this complaint because the Council delayed installing a memorial bench for the complainant. The Council has now agreed to resolve the complaint by apologising to the complainant and offering to make a payment to them to remedy the time and trouble they have been too. The memorial bench has now been ordered and work to install it is underway.

  • London Borough of Ealing (22 015 384)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 03-Jul-2023

Summary: Ms K complained about the Council’s handling of a Notice to Quit for her temporary accommodation, delay in increasing her priority band, and refusal to give her medical priority. We found the Council at fault for failing to properly inform Ms K about the Notice to Quit process and causing delay in increasing her priority band and complaints handling. The Council should apologise and make payment to remedy the injustice this caused. There was no fault in the process it followed to reach its view Ms K was not entitled to medical priority, we cannot therefore criticise the merits of its decision.

  • London Borough of Ealing (22 011 428)

    Statement Upheld Allocations 15-Aug-2023

Summary: Mrs X complained that the Council did not respond to forms she submitted, and failed to increase her priority on the housing register, when she reported anti-social behaviour and threats from a neighbour. Mrs X said her family was forced to flee their temporary accommodation and missed out on the chance of being offered permanent social housing. We find the Council at fault for failing to send two decision letters. This denied Mrs X her right of appeal. We are satisfied the Council has already apologised.

  • London Borough of Ealing (23 006 046)

    Statement Upheld Council tax 22-Aug-2023

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Council tax as the matter has been remedied.
