    Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint that a care provider failed to meet her mother’s care needs. She says her mother’s care plan stated support was needed with household cleaning, but her mother’s kitchen was left in a filthy state. This is because the Council has agreed to resolve the complaint early by providing a proportionate remedy for the injustice caused.

    Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about a care provider not reporting the incident that led to her husband’s serious injuries in a truthful and correct manner. She also says the care provider did not implement the correct procedure during the moving and handling of her husband. This is because the Council has agreed to resolve the complaint early by providing a proportionate remedy for the injustice caused.

    Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about the Council’s decision to revoke permission to extend her dropped kerb. This is because the Council we are satisfied with the Council’s actions to resolve the complaint. It has apologised to Mrs X, paid her £100 and agreed to reimburse her professional fees totalling £594. While Mrs X would like the Council to allow her to extend her dropped kerb against its policy this is not an outcome we could achieve for her.

    Summary: Mrs X complained about the quality of care provided by the Council commissioned care provider Routes Healthcare DCA. Mrs X received care in line with her care package. However, the care provider’s lack of records leaves Mrs X with a sense of frustration and uncertainty over whether her complaints were fully responded to. The Council has agreed to apologise for this. It has already taken action to prevent recurrence of the fault.

    Statement Upheld Residential care 19-Dec-2023

    Summary: Mrs X complained the Council commissioned care home provided inadequate care and support to her late mother, Mrs Y. The Council was at fault for the care home’s poor care planning and risk assessments and for its failure to properly monitor Mrs Y’s food and fluid intake. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X to acknowledge the distress and uncertainty this caused her and pay her £500 in recognition of that injustice. It has also agreed to ensure the care home has carried out appropriate training.
