Guide for statutory officers and senior leaders: Effective oversight of complaint systems

Part 7

Statutory complaints processes

Statutory complaints processes

Some councils will be under a duty to deal with certain complaints under statutory processes. This includes complaints about adult social care, children’s services and public health.

These processes should not be run in isolation from one another or from complaints handled under the Code. Effective complaints systems understand the importance of sharing learning from all complaints where there is wider learning for similar services or the organisation as a whole.
