  • Trafford Council (24 009 312)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Highway repair and maintenance 03-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Mr B’s complaint about his car being damaged by a pothole. This is because it is reasonable for Mr B to pursue his compensation claim by taking the Council to court.

  • London Borough of Redbridge (23 019 898)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 03-Sep-2024

Summary: Mr D complains the Council failed to review and update his Education Health Care (EHC) plan which resulted in him being unable to access an apprenticeship scheme. During the investigation the Council accepted fault in its actions and agreed to apologise, pay Mr D a symbolic payment and review his EHC plan. We have discontinued the investigation as Mr D is happy with this result and it is disproportionate to investigate the matter further.

  • Hertfordshire County Council (24 005 303)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School transport 03-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council refusing to provide her daughter with free transport to school. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault.

  • Leicester City Council (24 005 373)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Homelessness 03-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the home the Council offered Miss X to end its homelessness duty. Miss X could reasonably have used her review right. As she did not do so, the Council was not at fault for ending its homelessness involvement.

  • East Sussex County Council (24 005 451)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 03-Sep-2024

Summary: We cannot investigate Mr X’s complaint about the education placements the Council named in his child’s Education, Health, and Care Plan(s). Mr X had a right of appeal about these decisions. Nor will we investigate the other parts of his complaint because they are either late, or the Council has already satisfactorily addressed them.

  • West Suffolk Council (24 005 309)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Planning applications 03-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of a planning application for a site next to the complainant’s home. There is not enough evidence to conclude that any fault has affected the planning outcome, so the complainant has not been caused a significant injustice.

  • London Borough of Hillingdon (24 003 521)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Housing benefit and council tax benefit 02-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about housing benefit as there is a right of appeal to a tribunal and there is no evidence of fault by the Council causing significant injustice.

  • London Borough of Redbridge (24 003 636)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Charging 02-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about charging for her mother’s respite care. This is because we could not add to the Council’s own investigation.

  • Lancashire County Council (24 003 845)

    Statement Upheld Other 02-Sep-2024

Summary: Mrs X complained about how the Council’s children’s services department dealt with her and her daughter. The Council was at fault for failing to use the children’s statutory complaints procedure to respond to Mrs X’s concerns. This caused Mrs X frustration and meant she went to undue time and trouble pursuing her complaint through the wrong procedure. To remedy her injustice, the Council will apologise, pay Mrs X £200, begin to investigate a complaint under the statutory procedure and issue a reminder to staff.

  • North Northamptonshire Council (24 003 999)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Charging 02-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about her late mother’s care charges because the complaint is late.
