How to contact us

Every year the LGO deals with over 18,000 complaints about local councils. Some of these complaints are made either directly by children and young people, or on their behalf by a parent, carer, or advocate. Click here for more details on how we do our investigations.

To make a complaint you can fill in a complaint form on-line. It may help if you look at the making a complaint section of this website first. Or you can phone one of our advisers on 0300 061 0614 who can answer any questions you have and take down your complaint over the phone, if you wish. (Calls to 03 numbers will cost no more than calls to national geographic numbers (starting 01 or 02) from both mobiles and landlines, and will be included as part of any inclusive call minutes or discount schemes in the same way as geographic calls. Please note that calls may be recorded for training and quality purposes.)  You can also text 'call back' to 0762 480 3014.

For more information about the kind of complaints we deal with and examples of cases where we have helped see our Casebook: Children and young people. We also have a leaflet Complaints by children and young people - How we can help for advocates and advisers. (See 'downloads' box on the right of this screen.)
