Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with damage caused to her property by one its tenants. This is because we cannot investigated the Council’s actions in relation to the management of social housing.
The complaint
- Miss X complains the Council failed to take action when her property was damaged. Miss X says the Council failed to respond to her complaints. She says she has suffered significant financial losses as a result of what happened.

- The Local Government Act 1974 sets out our powers but also imposes restrictions on what we can investigate.
- We cannot investigate complaints about the provision or management of social housing by a council acting as a registered social housing provider. (Local Government Act 1974, paragraph 5A schedule 5, as amended)
